After a busy week of assignments, presentation and papers at IED, I had planned to enjoy the weekend without doing anything for University. And I have had a very busy weekend with nothing but nice things!
On Thursday, a night out in Sutton (what a surprise ;-)). Friday I made a risotto (based on this recipe) for three friends, it was a really succesfull evening. Besides they loved the risotto, we had so much fun together! We ended the evening with a few episodes of Gossip Girl :-). On Sathurday I went to La Maquinista with a good friend. I really love this 'open air' shoppingmall, you can find all well-known brands and shops but I especially went there because of Forever21 and Hollister. We did a lot of good shopping!
After this tiring day of shopping, me and my friend Laura were invited by two Spanish friends, for dinner at their place. Surprisingly, they made a Spanish Paella! I really have to admit, it was amazing! During my time here in Barcelona, I had some Spanish versions of Paella but this was definitely the best one until now! From home, I'm used to eat Paella with both fish and chicken (this recipe will follow later). This Spanish couple told me that Spanish Paella only contains fish. Did you know this? I actually didn't know this but good for my knowlegde about the Spanish culture :-).
Together with the Paella, they served fresh bread with homemade aioli (recipe below), mmm! And last but not least, for dessert we enojyed a very delicious homemade walnut-brownie with vanilla ice cream from Vioko! It was a really nice evening, with a lot of delicious, tasteful food! Thanks so much to my two Spanish friends!
Recipi homemade Aioli:
Ingredients:
3 cloves of garlic
1 yolk (yellow part of an egg)
Good olive oil
A little bit of salt
Instructions:
Put the garlic and a little bit of salt in a mortar. Smash this with the pestle, until finely chopped. Add the yolk and mix the whole together. Then add some olive oil, very slowly! Add olive oil until it becomes a thick 'sauce'.
Delicious with fresh bread together with a Paella!
Buen provecho!
Have you every made your own Aioli? Until now I only tried the ones from the supermarket, but I think next time I will make my own! Although the tast is very strong, I really love it!
How was your weekend, also with nothing but nice things? :-)
Xx Marloes.
